What a great week!
Finally, with restrictions lifted, some may have enjoyed a drink or meal on a patio, while others had a chance to attend church. Many are looking forward to Ontario’s Step 2 reopening when salons reopen, and we can invite some friends and family into our homes.
Greece Tennis – Tsitsipas & Sakkari
Wow! The Greeks once again in the spotlight. Not many know, but Stefanos Tsitsipas is the youngest (at 22) ranked in the top 10 by the Association of Tennis Professionals. Unfortunately, Tsitsipas lost the Grand Slam final (the first Greek ever to make it there). Maria Sakkari is the first Greek female to make it to the semi-finals. Sadly, she did not advance to the finals. We are proud of them both.
Father’s Day – Γιορτή του Πατέρα June 20th
It’s that time of year for Μπαμπά again. Here are a few ideas:
- Make the phone call. A phone call goes a long way, especially if dad lives in a different city or country.
- Stock him up with grooming accessories. Razors, shaving cream and his favourite bar of soap should do.
- Light a candle. For some, dad may have passed but will always be in our hearts and prayers. Lighting a candle or the oil lamp (καντήλι) in their memory helps the soul of the departed.
Need more ideas? Check out some Father’s day gifts for every type of dad.
Quote of The Day
“Don’t wait for opportunity, create it”.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
Are you keeping it Greek?
What in the world is keeping it Greek? Well, it’s intentionally staying connected to your Greek culture, and that’s what our mission is at YourGreekToronto. With the city slowly opening, I’m pretty certain events and festivals will resume, and when they do, we will be here to keep you up to date.
Greek Music
Gianna Terzi (daughter of Pasxalis Terzis) sings alongside her father, making this a perfect song for fathers day.
