4 Easy Ways to Stay Connected to your Greek Culture
Being Greek and living in Canada is something we are all proud of, but we can easily drift away from our Greek Culture if we don’t make an effort to stay engaged in some way. Here is a simple list of 4 easy ways to stay connected.
- Turn on the music. It’s so easy to find greek music these days online. A Greek playlist on Spotify or radio station from Greece on TuneIn can do the trick.
- Greek Food. Pastitsio, Moussaka, or a village salad with a hunk of feta and fresh bread. These always bring me back to living in Greece as a teenager.
- Church. Attending church services in person whenever possible. In my opinion, this is the best way to experience all the physical elements of the orthodox faith. The smell of the incense, the jingling sounds of the censer, the smell of the candles.
- Travel to a Greek island. Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Rhodes. Wherever it may be, visit the islands. You will never go on another all-inclusive Caribbean vacation again. Nothing beats our island life. Nothing.
