Kαλημέρα, Happy Fall!
Yesterday marked the first day of Fall, or as some also refer to as Autumn. This beautiful season marks the end of Summer and the beginning of the “autumnal equinox,” the precise moment when the sun reaches the equator from the north towards the south.
There is no denying that Fall is probably the best season to experience in Toronto.
One needs to just take a drive along the Don Valley Parkway during October to experience the unique changing of colours of the leaves. It’s truly remarkable.
Stay Safe
September has also been a busy month with an election and a new vaccine passport rollout.
Regardless of which side you are on politically or regarding the vaccine passport, we hope everyone stays safe and healthy during these times while making the most of the season.
Words of Wisdom
“Use few words. Words often provoke irritation. Prayer and living example find resonance. Living faith moves people, regenerates them and changes them, whereas words alone remain fruitless.” Saint Porphyrios, Book: Wounded By Love
What Does Being Orthodox Mean?
The majority of us are what we call “cradle Orthodox,” meaning we were born into the faith. What we know is what has been taught to us by our parents or grandparents.
The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto has published a short booklet titled “I’m Orthodox What Does That Mean?”. It is available as a PDF and contains 30 questions and answers about our faith. For anyone interested, we have added the link to the pdf for printing by clicking here.
In The Community
The Greek Community of Toronto has announced their Scotiabank Marathon team and is asking for our support. You can sponsor a runner/walker by visiting their pledge page here.
Greek Music
Natasa Theodoridou – Exapsi (Έξαψη) It’s a lovely song for Theodoridou fans that’s been making rounds lately on Greek television and live stages in Greece. Click here to watch it!
